On the 5 December 2018, the last picture show in Newcastle’s inner city, the iconic and much loved Tower Cinemas closed.
The Tower Cinemas originally opened 29 April 1976 to a full house with Jaws, Picnic at Hanging Rock and Barry Lyndon.
The Tower Cinema’s closed on 5 December 2018 to a full house with the final sessions being Bohemian Rhapsody at 6.45pm, Die Hard at 7.00 pm and Lean on Pete at 7.10 pm
Since the closure of the Tower Cinemas, Iconic Cinema’s have been working to re open the Tower Cinemas, and bring a dedicated cinema back to inner city Newcastle.
